Terms of service
What you get when you take a spot in the mosaic, what we ask of you in return, and what happens when either of us wants to stop.
The short version. Register a real site you are entitled to represent. We review it by hand and can decline. A spot buys you a block of your size in every mosaic while your listing runs — not a fixed position, and not a promised audience. Either of us can end it; if you have paid for days you did not get, you get them back.
1. What this service is
Pixeloom builds one artwork every 24 hours out of the websites registered with it. Each listed site occupies a square block of cells inside the picture; hovering a block shows the site's name, category and address, and clicking it opens that site in a new tab. Using this site, or registering a listing on it, means these terms apply to you.
2. Registering a listing
- Everything is reviewed by hand. A submission arrives pending and a person approves it. We can decline a submission, and we do not have to give a reason.
- Say true things. The name, address and category must describe the site you are actually linking to.
- You must be entitled to list it. Either it is your site, or the site's owner asked you to place it.
- One listing per domain. A domain that is already registered is refused rather than duplicated.
- The link must keep working. If your site dies, changes hands or starts redirecting somewhere unrelated, tell us — otherwise we will eventually notice and remove the listing.
3. What may not be listed
We will not carry a site that:
- distributes malware, or exists to phish, defraud or impersonate;
- is illegal where it operates, or exists to help someone break the law;
- carries pornography, gratuitous violence, or material sexualising minors;
- attacks people over race, religion, nationality, sex, gender, disability or orientation;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy — including a logo you do not have the right to use;
- exists to sell what we do not want in the picture: unlicensed pharmaceuticals, weapons, stolen data, cheating and fraud services.
The mosaic is the product, so this list is applied on taste as well as on rules. A site we would rather not have in the artwork can be declined even if it breaks none of the above.
4. What you let us do with your logo and name
By registering, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display your name, logo, link and category as part of the mosaic — on the day's artwork, in the stored record of past mosaics, and in screenshots of those mosaics we use to show what Pixeloom is. Nothing more: we do not use your marks to imply that you endorse us.
You confirm you have the right to grant that. Withdraw a listing and we stop placing it in new mosaics; artworks that were already generated keep the tile that was in them, because they are a record of a day that happened.
5. What a spot does and does not guarantee
- You get a block of the size you paid for in every mosaic generated while your listing is active and approved.
- You do not get a position. Every night the shape and palette change and every advertiser is placed again from scratch. Larger blocks qualify for deeper positions inside the shape; nobody is promised particular coordinates on a particular day.
- You are not promised an audience. We publish the view and click counts we have and we do not embellish them. We do not guarantee visits, clicks, sales, or a placement in any search engine.
- The artwork comes first. Below the smallest paid size a tile carries no logo by design, and at rest every logo sits quietly against the picture. That is the product working as described, not a fault.
6. Price and payment
Tiers are priced per day and taken by the month — 1, 3, 6 or 12 — and the live prices, including any discount, are the ones shown on the how it works page and in the registration panel. Those are always the prices that apply; nothing here overrides what you were quoted.
No card is taken when you submit. Card payment is not built yet, so today a listing is confirmed by us and by email, and any tier discounted to zero is genuinely free for as long as that discount stands. When paid billing does launch, these terms will be updated before anyone is charged, and a price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
If we remove a paid listing for a reason other than a breach of these terms, you get back the days you paid for and did not receive.
7. Ending a listing
- You, at any time — write to us and we take the listing out of the next mosaic that is generated.
- Us, if a listing breaks section 3, if the site becomes dangerous or goes dark, if a payment for it fails, or if we are legally required to.
Removals take effect from the next nightly generation, because the day's artwork is built in advance. Something dangerous is pulled immediately by regenerating the day.
8. The service itself
We run Pixeloom as well as we can, but we do not promise uptime, and there is no service level agreement here. Batches can fail, servers can go down, and a day can be missed. We may change how the mosaic looks and how placement works — that is what a daily artwork is — and we may stop running the service. If we shut down, we will say so in advance and refund anything paid for time beyond the end.
9. Other people's sites
Every tile links somewhere we do not control. Review does not make us responsible for what a listed site does afterwards, and a listing is not an endorsement. If a tile leads somewhere it should not, tell us and we will look at it.
10. Liability
The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business, lost data or any indirect or consequential loss.
Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing takes away consumer rights the law gives you regardless of what a contract says.
11. Disputes
Tell us first: almost everything is settled by an email and a fix. If something cannot be settled that way, both sides will attempt a good-faith resolution before anything else, and any remaining dispute goes to a court competent to hear it.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms can change — most likely when card payment launches. The version and date below move when they do, and a change that alters the deal materially will not be applied retroactively to a period you already paid for.
